Areas of Interest
– Symptom management for chronic and serious illnesses.
– Guiding patients and families through complex health decisions
– Drawing on emergency and critical care experience to provide compassionate, informed support
Experience
I trained and worked as a medical doctor in one of the busiest emergency centers in the Western Cape, gaining extensive experience in managing acute, complex, and high-pressure cases. Over time, I’ve shifted my focus toward supporting patients with chronic and serious illnesses, providing compassionate care, symptom management, and guidance for families navigating difficult health decisions. This transition allows me to combine my critical care experience with a more holistic, patient-centered approach, ensuring care that is both informed and deeply supportive.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in nature, practicing yoga, and exploring mindfulness and personal growth. I’m passionate about film—the stories told, the human experiences represented on screen, and the way different art forms are blended into a single motion picture.

Experience
I’m originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada with 18 years of clinical experience in Emergency and Trauma, Mental Health, and Community Nursing in remote communities across Canada’s Arctic.
I moved to Cape Town 2 years ago to be with my South African husband who I met on a dive boat in Indonesia in 2019.
Most recently, I worked on a medical oncology inpatient unit and have been volunteering with a Non-Profit Organisation doing school-based health screenings in early childhood development centres in Capricorn.
Throughout my nursing career and volunteer work in South Africa, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the complexities patients and families face when navigating healthcare systems. These experiences have shaped my approach to care—I strive to provide compassionate and streamlined support to all patients, while making meaningful use of my skills and interests in this profession.
Outside of work, I enjoy yoga, hiking, gardening, cross country skiing, and backcountry canoe & kayak trips in the wilderness.
